Specifically this concept:
You don't want to die, you just don't want to exist.

Can somebody help with creating an analogy for this?
 
"I don't want to die but I don't want to live" comes to mind. I doubt that counts, though.
 
i personally would use space as a metaphor or example. the vastness of it; how cold, quiet, dark, and empty it is; the existential vibe many people get from it. i'd use that since i love space and find it a good example of myself.

maybe even the concept of a nebula - a star that dies turns into something lifeless yet beautiful.
