Does talking to villagers too much lower your friendship?

I'm currently trying to get Julian & Chevre's pictures, however I've been talking to them 24/7 and after a while they'll say "I'm sorry, can we talk later? I don't want to be rude but I don't feel like talking right now" or something along those lines. Is it lowering our friendship? I send them gifts and letters, do all their requests etc. I'm just curious if I'm causing more harm than good.They both have only done that to me twice...

I don't think it lowers their friendship, I think they just run out of talking prompts. I talk to all of my villagers like 3 times a day, plus anytime they ping me. You don't have to talk to them a million times to get your friendship up. Try writing letters daily using the word "friend" in the letter, add gifts, and visit them when you can! These are all good ways of increasing friendships!
