Is there a list of villager tiers somewhere?

In the Villager Trading Plaza/Amiibo Card Post Office I see a lot of price lists by villager tier, and sometimes they don't specify what tier their villagers are? So I'm wondering if there's a generally agreed upon list somewhere or if it's just common knowledge? Because I have no idea which villagers are popular and which ones aren't *sigh*
