This has been bothering me for a very long time and I just need closure.
How do you pronounce the word "kilometer"? I've heard it pronounced like "kill-oh-me-ter" and also "kill-aw-mih-ter". I personally pronounce it like the latter, and so does my physics professor, but a lot of others seem to pronounce it like the former.
I hear them both used interchangeably. I usually use the second one, personally, even though the first makes more sense based on the pronunciation of other measurements.
Uhh, since it's got a completely different pronunciation in Swedish I tend to use that for English as well, it's more like "chill-uh-meh-terr" or such lmao.
Interchangeable - I'd say kilo-meter when working with physics/math problems to stress the prefix and unit, but kill-aw-mih-ter in real life (ex. speeds in km/h)
