Does calling a villager with the megaphone prevent pings?

Hi everyone, I had a question about trying to get villagers to ping for PWP. I often wait near the edge of my town for 5-10 minutes, then run around the town trying to find villagers to ping me for PWPs, but running around trying to find them is a pain, and trying to trap them with holes is even harder, so I was thinking I'd just call for them with the megaphone. But the thing is, I'm not sure if having them respond to the megaphone calls would prevent them from being able to ping me or not. Has anyone tested this or knows if this is case? Thanks in advance.

I believe it does reset pings, but I haven't used the megaphone in a while.
