Hi all,

So I'm up to that point in my game where I'm beginning to think about what I want to do with my villagers' houses. I already had a pretty good idea what I wanted to do with Mayor Willow's house. I'm going for a sort of breezy, laid back beach condo. I guess it's not typically "beach" since there are hardly any ocean/ sea themed items in there, but I'm still really pleased with how it's coming out.

As for Alice, I'm a bit more flexible with my vision. I'm experimenting with different furniture sets and other random items to see what I like and what works, and I also want it to be completely different from Mayor Willow's, which got me to thinking; how big do I really want Alice's house to be? For Mayor Willow I'm doing the full 8 x 8 expansion in all rooms, but in all honestly, sometimes it's really hard to fill that space, like in the bathroom.

I haven't really decided what kinds of rooms I'd like to have in Alice's house yet. I'm mostly just browsing Pinterest and tumblr to see what I like. But what about you guys? Do you upgrade to have all six rooms? And do you upgrade all your rooms to the full 8 x 8 grid?

And! What kind of rooms do you have in your houses/ what do you like to see in Dream Towns?

For my mayor's house I upgraded completely. I have 3 side characters, one of which im keeping in a tent. . The other two I haven't planned out yet.

I fully upgraded my mayor's house and my "hotel" house. My surf shop has an 8x8 main floor and upstairs, but a 4x4 basement. Funnily enough, the not fully upgraded Surf Shop is the only house that I consider complete.

I have the main room fully expanded, the basement fully expanded, the upstairs is the middle size and my back room is the middle size.
And I consider the basement, main room, and conservatory finished.
I'm not planning on adding more rooms, but I might fully expand the upstairs.

I typically like to fully expand, but I've grown to like my upstairs room being the middle size.
I've themed it around being my bedroom with a mix of Sloppy Furniture and other homely things, so it feels nice and cozy.

Every room except the bathroom c: it seems fitting as the bathroom irl is usually smaller than the regular rooms.

My mayor's house is fully expanded. In one of my alt character's houses, the upstairs room is the middle size, and in my other alt's house, the basement is the smallest size. I consider them all finished, though!

It all depends on what you want to put in the room. There were several rooms I thought I could get away with not completely expanding, but it turns out I had so much stuff I wanted to decorate with that I had to make them the largest size.

I never intended to fully expand my house. I did not think I needed too and found some rooms/sets I owned suited a smaller space anyway. However, progressing through the game I found that I did prefer larger spaces because I started finding miscellaneous items/add ons to further up the design of some of my completed sets. So yeah, now I want my entire house as big as possible lol.

I love seeing fairy themed/fairy tale themes/cute and fluffy dream towns bc that's my thing lol.

I have a lovely room, nursery, harvest themed room, mermaid room and my final room (incomplete) will be a princess style room. This is for my mayor's house, I don't have an idea for what my second character's house will be like.

I wish they gave us more control over how the house can be upgraded. Making everything just size increases isn't interesting and can actually detract from some designs

I did for my mayor because paying off my loans was a big deal for me as I'd never fully paid them off in previous games. Now that I have loans irl I aspire to be like my mayor. It makes my soul hurt a little bit knowing I won't be able to pay it off as quickly. For my other villagers though, I didn't upgrade the rooms at all because I rarely play as them, but I made them look cunie.

I fully expanded my mayors house. I won't fully expand my side character's houses though.

Everything is expanded except the Left room in my Mayor's house. That's the bathroom. For my second character I plan on having all rooms expanded.

I wish the entry room didn't have to be fully upgraded in order to gain access to the other ones. Not every house needs a grand foyer - it doesn't really suit my desired aesthetic for a cozy home -.-

I kept my house small in my Whimsy town because it was a chore escorting villagers through every room when they wanted to visit. In Sylph I got all the rooms because there was a lot of furniture I wanted from the amiibo update

Yes I expanded it entirely because I want to look like a millionaire mayor compared to my villagers. They know who the boss is and not to mess with.

i love fully expanding just because. or at least. i plan to. i've never fully expanded any house even from wild world to now whoops

I have never fully expanded. I dont like the way the doorways look in the main room lol. The furthest I ever go is main room, attic and basement.

Depends on what the building is going to be, usually my mayor I will fully upgrade but it depends on what I want for my side characters. I have a side character whose house is an apartment building and he lives on the top floor, there's a lobby on the main floor, a bar on in the basement, and a small laundry in the back of the lobby. I am think of putting a gym on the bottom floor too but I'm not sure yet. Things like businesses I'll expand for what the room is, and like you said bathrooms don't take much space so I usually make a bathroom/laundry if I want it to be a large room.

I only have the main floor for my mayor right now, no extra rooms yet. My side characters that needed specific exteriors are upgraded to the point of being able to choose a different exterior shape.

...No one's house is properly decorated aside from my mayor's single room because I'm waiting on someone to let me catalog stuff.
