They irritate me and the people who smoke usually do as well.

My family are fully aware that I despise cigarettes and avoid me when they want a smoke, it's nice that they respect my health but it's a shame that they don't respect their own as much. They all smoke in moderation, nobody in my family are heavy smokers and I'm really grateful for that, if they were heavy smokers I would have a hard time and so would they.

I understand that they may be relaxing for a while but the effects ware off after smoking for a while, everybody who I know has smoked will tell that. They aren't worth it and there are other means of relaxation, it isn't limited to having a smoke and if you rely on them too much you will fall ill and weak.

Not only are they unhealthy for the Human body and mind, they are also unhealthy for the World and contributes to the illness that it is currently going through. I don't support them at all and if someone willingly smokes around me even after I tell them I feel uncomfortable around it, then they are out of my life and aren't worth my time.

Smokers need to look at the facts of what they are doing to their bodies, if they choose to ignore them and fall ill, well that's their problem, avoiding help and advice was their choice and they need to save themselves from then on out. I have no sympathy for them, the people who are addicts but are willing to seek help are the people who are worth it and I have sympathy for.

I do smoke, but I do try to eat healthy and exercise. Even if I'm doing terrible things to my body, I'm gonna try and do something that's gonna help me.

I don't smoke and I hate the smell. Unfortunately, my close friend was a social smoker and she was probably the most courteous to me. She would tell her other smoker friends not to smoke around me, and smoke in the wind direction away from me. A good thing, she is trying to smoke less and quit.

That being said, I still wish smoking was banned from outdoor public areas. Not all smokers are aware and respectful. I don't want second hand smoke. I've watched so many just flick cig butts in the street.

Smoking will probably never become illegal, but it should be excessively restrictive. Smoke in your home or any other enclosed smoking area only.

If smokers don't mind their own health concern, fine but don't drag others with your pollutant with second hand smoke. That's not cool. I don't want to get a risk of lung cancer because you need your little nicotine.

Oh yeah and if any other smokers see this please always keep an ash tray in your car--- it's polluting to the air and throwing that cigarette outside is harmful to birds and other small animals! It is also no different than throwing your bag or receipt out the window, it is still littering! Honestly if most people who smoked enough had regular bonfires I would say burn all the remains (collected up ofc) from all of the ash trays and burn them there since some filters can't decompose or turn mushy like paper once it rains.

Even if you do have healthy diet and exercise routine smoking will still destroy your body, it will decay.

I'd prefer to have healthy lungs and a healthy mind, I would cut smoking out of my life and stick to eating healthy and exercising regularly. We're all different though, so you do you and see the results. Not trying to be rude but if you're willingly smoking you should be aware of what will happen and I'm sure you are, so I hope for your health to be the best it can be.

I'm not a social smoker. I never really got the appeal of smoking around other people. It's really rude, considering how many people don't like smoking (jesus just look at this thread alone). I actually like the idea of restricting it to one place. Like I said before, smoking for me is a relaxing thing. Smoking to the sounds of people talking, cars, etc. isn't relaxing.

Maybe, I'll lighten up on the cigarettes in the future. But, right now, I'm gonna keep keepin on.

I vaped one time. Once and that was due to peer pressure. I don't know if that counts, but I didn't like it. I like the smell of vape juice, but I don't like to smoke. I've never tried a cigarette before. I don't plan on it. And that being said I don't shun anyone for smoking. That's all I'll say for now on the topic.

I used to smoke. Now I don't.

There's few things I regret, but starting smoking would be one of them. I wouldn't be using an e-cig if I didn't start with the real thing.

The only downside is that the taste lingers for hours and hours after you smoke.

And that it makes your breath smell...And you smell...And everything around the vicinity smell. Yellow fingers, lips, teeth. Damages both dental hygiene and your skin, not to mention your lungs. Destroys your tastebuds. Morning drymouth. Mucus build ups, short breath...cancer. They're increasingly hella expensive. Nicotine stains over everything if you smoke indoors, they're banned in most indoor areas practically forcing your habit outdoors. Those times where the smoke just gets in your eyes and it stings like a mother ****er. I'm not even finished...

But yea, the taste lingers. That's the only downside.

Did you start smoking last week? Sounds to me like you're still in the honeymoon period where you've yet to experience 95% of the actual downfalls and the nicotine still 'hits' you rather than simply quenching a craving.

The only downside for me. Jesus, can I just express my opinions without getting bashed?

Guess I count as secondhand smoke. The smell doesn't really bother me that much anymore.
(Weird story) since my bathroom has this exhaust thing that takes away the smelly air, my dad smokes in there because my building is smoke-free. Because of this there is lots of burns and stains. Sometimes I find cigarette stains on the toilet paper! :(

My family has been trying to get him to quit for years, but he's like you, he doesn't really care about what it does to his body.

In my opinion, doing something that toxic to your body is not worth any brief moment of relaxation, or risking addiction. To me it's just like a really slow, lazy suicide.

I have a ton of friends who are into weed and stuff, but cigarettes? They're smart enough to know better.

Right? I'm still shocked this day in age when people smoke despite knowing all of the negative impacts it has on health. I mean, back in the day when everyone smoked, at least they had ignorance as an excuse

I smoked maybe twice in my whole life, and it was because of a boy I liked... but I never went back and never got hooked thankfully, my mom has smoked my whole life and it's hard enough watching her do it, or smelling it, and seeing her dump all her money into them especially now that they're more expensive. She's tried to quit more times than I can count and has always gone back shortly afterwards. I hate them smell of the smoke, and I work in a smoking casino so I'm around it constantly. Being it that I have ADHD and it's in my family it's kind of surprising I don't do it, but I think my mom has turned me and my sister completely off to it.

nah. im not impressed by people who smoke. i dont think its cool or trendy or some tool to relaxation. i especially hate second hand smoke. no matter where someone is, that smell always finds its way out and the smell is disgusting. i really hate it when people smoke in public or even outdoors in the summer near houses or places that have no air conditioning and have to open windows to make it cool but cant because they gotta be suffocated by someone exhaling vile, airborne poison. not to mention second hand smoke is 2x damaging to dogs than it is for humans and i have dogs. they dont need to be around that garbage.

if they want to smoke, keep that *** indoors and in an air-tight seal, keep that poison to yourself.

I know that a lot of the users on here are relatively young, so this is for the older folks. How many of you smoke cigarettes? I personally love them.

Thank you for all your insightful opinions. I really appreciate the people who took the time to give me anecdotes of negative smoking experiences and recommend things for me to watch. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go to bed and let my body decay in peace.

28 y/o female here, and I am a HEAVY smoker. <3
I usually smoke when I play ACNL or listen to music :3
It doesnt help my anxiety and its a HARD habit to break, but screw it....lol.

Never tried cigarettes and never will. I'll never pay to slowly kill myself.

Agreed!!

Just a 13 year old passing by. I don't care about cigarettes. I will never smoke them. Sure, I would love to smoke some cigars sometime to do one of those puff rings (just like Oxhorn, a YouTuber). My grandfather still smokes to this day. Somehow, he's healthy, and still living at the age of 84.

My grandpa used to smoke, he quit before I was born but he started when he was 12 and now he is really weak and unhealthy and he has had cancer (he survived).
Even though he was born at a time of dictatorship in Portugal in the 1930s when things like this were legal (or maybe just not enforced) I don't know how parents could let their kids do that.

i on/off smoke, mostly malboro reds, and would go thru a box in less than a day - i'm what they would consider a "health freak" and have complete acknowledgement of the horrible consequences of smoking AND usually have a mini panic attack with each drag as it phases me but it does help ease a lot of stress related issues (must be the nicotine mutating brain cells) - whatever people do is their own business (especially when it comes to jeopardizing their own being) so i'm not gunna preach... BUT THINK LONG AND HARD DO YOU REALLY WANNA DIE HOOKED UP TO MACHINES ALL BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO WILL TO BREAK A POINTLESS HABIT

I used to, but decided to stop before I started getting addicted, now I occasionally have one if I'm out drinking n I get offered, and I almost never go out drinking so
