What age range do you think TBT is for?

Sooo...what do you think?

Honestly I think anyone who can properly type communicate and or speak to others should be allowed on. I'm not talking 'you have a mental disability go away!" "english isnt your first language!" I mean things like, people who can not properly comprehend what we are speaking about, in other words, I think anyone who plays the game no matter the age should be allowed on. I think that its a safe zone, and since theres censorship I don't think it's a big issue. For older users I believe that thy may feel a bit conflicted with being on the website considering it is filled with viewers from 13 to 30, so older than that may feel a bit out of place, other than that I don't view age as a factor, but rather just a side thing as to whether or not you can generally comprehend things as a whole rather than just on this website.

I'd say 13+ consider the non-AC (sub)-forums, but generally younger if you only stick to those. Not sure how much word-censoring and content restrictions you need to have for each criteria and such though. Generally all ages I could say, but yeah as long as you know that there are adults here and not everything is like on Neopets I'd say go explore.

Although personally I sometimes feel very old here, especially with some of my music taste and the random fandom threads I have no idea about.

I feel like having adults only would exclude many users from this site. I personally think that maybe 13 is a bit too young. Maybe 14-15 would do as the minimum age. I'm saying this because of all the sorta inappropriate threads that have been going around. Rants, swearing, cursing, and etc have been happening, so I'm wondering how all the younger ones would deal with this.

P.S I'm not acting like some sort of child expert, ok? Haha.

Adults only. TBT should only be for retirees, aged 65+

The age range I think TBT would be good for is literally just teenagers and above. Obviously censoring everything for younger people could get annoying and I would get tired putting warnings on things that may not be appropriate for kids. (Not that I would post anything nsfw or anything along those lines, I just think that some websites should stay off limits for kids: ex-tumblr, facebook, etc.) But don't get me wrong, I think animal crossing in general is definitely okay for kids and such, just some internet websites like this could be abused by trolls.

i think this website is fine. if there are older teens or kids around 13-16 here, im sure they wouldnt bother click on mature threads that adults talk about. so i think 13+ is fine. and it actually helps clean out the forums from excessive curse words, nsfw stuff. because if this were an adults only place.... it could be real dirty here. XD like gaia's cb @ 2016 level of dirty.

13+

Animal Crossing is predominantly an all-ages, it's just marketed towards kids in western society due to different cultural norms and preference in games.

Though despite the family friendly attitude and moderation by staff, I can understand your mother's concerns. Even in a kids only site, you never know who (or what) is behind the screen. Predators aren't against lying about their identity and grooming children. Hell, there's even jerks that prey on people that are 18+ for questionable content that they might leak or blackmail (hopefully there's no one here like that). At the end of the day, it isn't about the age so much, but more about the maturity of the user. If you're going to be on a social site, you should be at a level of understanding that there might be predators and you should be cautious with giving out personal details.

That being said, like Dizzy Bone and busy.crossing said, I'm an older player that has no issues trading with, or being friendly to a younger member on here, but I'd rather socialise and become friends with older players.

I completely agree, Chick. 13 year olds are (generally) too young to be allowed free reign on TBT. I would raise the age to 16 for The Basement and probably other parts of TBT that I have not explored, (and don't want to). I'm no child expert, either, but I have children older than 30, so that gives me a different perspective than some of you younger folks.

By law (COPPA), 13+, although I haven't seen this mentioned in the site rules.

In other ways, 13+ due to Brewster's weird topics, but also kids' since the moderators are overprotective. Sorry for showing the first letter of a word allowed in PG content and before the 9 o'clock watershed....

I do not agree that the moderators are overprotective at all. They are doing a superb job of keeping a reign on the continual testing of the boundaries on the forums, and I, for one, am thankful that the rules are in place and enforced.

Correction: yes, I meant Brewster's Cafe, not The Basement, thanks for pointing that out, Unicorn. Not that I have spent any significant amount of time on either...mostly I look at Retail and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Agree. I mean I only play with my partner who's 23, but I don't mind trading with anyone.

Well yeah as long as the staff don't moderate with a best bud/hate a few attitude, yeah they do a good job. And I can agree it's a nice line sometimes between not turning it into Gaia, nor making it a 5 yo kid site like neopets (although I highly doubt they are neopets but with their overly strict rules on what you can't talk and say it's that level sometimes).

Tbh I feel like it's 13+, since it's not for kids but not for only adults either. One time there was a person who said they were 9?? lol
I don't mind trading with anyone, as long as you seem relatively normal and not creepy I'm chill

Well of course I don't mind trading with younger or older, it's not that I have some 18+ policy or stuff... I mean as long as they don't act cringe and deliver as they should I don't care too much.

As with friends, as long as they are interesting and don't ignore what I write etc. I'm cool with whatever age.

I've seen kids as young as 9 on here, which was weird; it definitely seems better for members to be at least 13 so they're able to conduct themselves more responsibly. It's kind of uncomfortable to see little kids using social media sites - it used to annoy me how my mom would be overly cautious about our use of the internet, but now when I see my nieces playing stuff like planet hollywood (or whatever it's called) and being like "I have 200 friends on here!" I can see where she was coming from lool

TBT having such a large age range is fine overall imo, older members generally use common sense about interacting with younger ones.. although they don't always, not to be too specific but I've seen grown ass adults on here go out of their way to harass and get into fights with teenagers (I remember every one who I've seen do this btw, it's not cute).

But mostly people tend to interact within their own age groups anyway, and a lot of the really young members are just here to play Animal Crossing so w/e. I'm sure I've done plenty of trades with kids at this point, but I wouldn't like, come to their town to hang out or anything. ?\_(ツ)_/? & I keep my age on my prof so the little ones can swerve.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've played some acnl/chatted a bit with older people on here (like 40-50+ yr olds) and they were always so sweet I s2g.

^Yeah I remember this lady on Neopets (and she was probably on more sites than that) that was like 50 years back then and she was really sweet.. Senti I think she was called. so yeah I def. don't mind oldies like that either.

And yeah I'd agree 13+ would be appropriate, but on the other hand it could be very excluding if it was intended to be more of a kid/family forum, dunno. As long as the youngsters act mature and don't go "kid that is new to social sites" mode and are aware that there are some mature content (not porn, but well debates and such) I guess they are free to join.
