Can villagers suggest pwp to side characters?

I want to play on a side character for a while but I was interested to know whether I would be missing out of this aspect.

Just know that if you get a PWP request in a day you aren't going to get another request and you can play your side characters all you want the rest of the day!

I got one request today, so I guess I can hop on to my second character.

Though I thought you could get multiple requests per day? Wasn't that why people do the diving trick?

the diving trick is to like to get villagers to ping quicker, mostly for a pwp.
