Will the new nintendo 2ds xl be able to read amiibo cards by itself?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but I need to know before preordering it. Will it be able to read the cards by itself or will it still need the separate amiibo reader thing?

It should be able to. All of the 2DSes can do anything the 3DS can. Except it doesn't have the 3D option

Yeah, confirmed that it'll have a built-in NFC reader for amiibo. Basically, the new 2DS XL is a new 3DS XL without 3D.
