I thought I remembered at some point it was possible to buy a GIF signature in the shop. Has that feature been removed? If so, does that mean I can simply post a link to GIF in my signature and have the gif pop up with out having to pay? Or am I simply misremembering and there was no GIF signature in the first place?
 
There's never been an item in the shop to allow users to put gifs in their signature. You're allowed to include them by default :)

but you cant just put the link for the gif in your sig, you have to use the img tags
