so i've started to take huge breaks from my game and every time i come back i notice a lot of flaws with my town (mostly design) but i can't be bothered to fix anything. i'm getting more and more unhappy, but i'm not going to restart since that would be a lot of effort and i've worked really hard... i feel like i've done everything in the game so i'm starting to get really bored too. are there any tips to solve these issues?

I'm sorry to hear that you're starting to go through some lack of motivation. It happens to everyone at some point. My best advice would be to actually take a break from the game. Put it aside, focus on something else for a time. If you're not having fun with it right now, why force yourself to play? It will just make you unhappy.

And every town is going to have something you're not going to be happy about. That's just the nature of the game. Things can't be absolutely perfect. But I feel like little flaws or things that drive me crazy just end up motivating me to try harder to improve them. And little flaws can also be endearing. They are something that make each town unique. It would be boring if every town looked exactly perfect. Right?

So yes, come back to the game only when you start to feel excited about it again. Then, maybe make some goals, change up designs and layouts, reimagine different parts of your town, your house... it's just a game. Games are supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun, don't play. Animal crossing will always be there, you just need to give your motivation time to come back.

I second AutumnWolf. I lost my motivation for the game almost a year ago and have only recently been hit with such inspiration and the desire to play. I did end up resetting my town, but thankfully the town I had previously had been new and there wasn't much work there to let go of. Even so I tend to find starting over is always really fun for me!
