Politics General Discussion Thread II - "UK General Election 2017" Edition

I heard she wants a new, regulated Internet. Boy, that'll be fun. She'll be in the history books for being the one to stop terrorism. How'd she do it, you ask? By banning porn. That just stopped all the terrorists in their tracks.

what will anonymous flood ISIS' twitter account with if she bans porn?

i figured that conservatives would win, but that they would lose seats, which they did. i think jeremy corbyn was too weak a leader before the campaign and got so much bad press and criticism from his own party, that even his outstanding turn around this election wouldn't be enough to pull him through. i thought the labour manifesto was great (though i did have concerns about fundings), and that jeremy corbyn spoke eloquently and fluently during his public speaking during his campaign; wish i could say the same about theresa may but she rarely showed herself lmao. i didn't like the conservative manifesto at all as it was almost entirely brexit based and she churned out the same old, robotic 'strong and stable leadership' bs whenever she could be bothered.
she underestimated the public's faith in her (or lack thereof) and expected to gain a majority without making an effort in her campaign, and it evidently backfired on her and i'm glad. corbyn redeemed himself and managed to tear her of her majority - someone who can change my opinion on them in such a short amount of time like he did earns my respect, and i think that persuasive quality and his consistent strength through this election would have proved beneficial to brexit negotiations.
as much as i wish labour won, i reckon we'll end up with another election before the end of this year anyway.

I don't know the United Kingdom or what serves them best.

I know America and I know what I think will serve America best.

Personally, I'm fine with anyone winning the U.K election as long
as they're willing to work with our president and not against him.

You'd be happy, then, because the DUP are essentially Mike Pence clones. Anti-LGBT, anti-abortion, climate change deniers. All that good stuff you support alongside your president.

It was the best result we could hope for realistically as Labour were never on the cards for an overall majority, but we were able to cut con seats which is good. Corbyn has done pretty well to deal with the smear campaign against him and produced a wonderful manifesto. I am quite proud of what he has achieved, the turn out for young people was amazing, they won an extremely safe Tory seat by 20 votes which was interesting to say the least! They upped their vote share and best of all it was lovely to see TM go red faced at the results!

The concern now is how the minority government will proceed, I don't think they are actually able to make a coalition officially with the DUP because of the GFA? So unofficial agreements will likely be put in place, also due to EVEL they will have a reduced voice in voting in parliament.

First of all, when you're replying to me, quote me.

Second of all, I said willing to work with not have the same policies.

Third of all, Mike Pence isn't anti-LGBT or anti-abortion. "anti" would mean much more than what you see from him today. The accusations aren't even good ones. He isn't vocal about LGBT or abortion as much as other stuff because that's less of a priority. He's just a Christian. Didn't know that was wrong...

Fourth of all, climate change isn't real. It's a political and money gain for the globalists and liberals. People only started to "care" when Al Gore started running. Hate to burst your globalist bubble.

Mike Pence has admittedly supported gay conversion therapy, which involves shock therapy. How anyone can be supportive of a man like is beyond me, especially if you're supposed to be president, but I digress. I don't care if you're Buddhist, Christian, Satanist; if you support that garbage, then it's just as wrong as anything else.

Take a look at this, next time you're free. If you continue to ignore the effects of climate change on the environment, it will come back to bite you on the behind. Of all things in the world, the environment is one of the most vital parts of our planet, and if we do not care enough to preserve it, then we don't really deserve to be a part of it. What we get in return for this negligence is our own doing. Or, more specifically, your own doing.

Don't listen to everything Trump says. If he told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it? ;)

I'd quote you, but I think I'd be physically ill if I had to include that kind of filth in my own posts. Sorry.

That was rude, obnoxious, and showed ugliness on the inside. Lesson in life... don't let your political opinions triumph your ethics, morale, empathy, et cetera. I learned that the hard way. . .

I'd hate to see this turn into a debated about US politics while we have such important things happening in our country right now. I'm sure all of the leaders would be willing to work with the President in their own way according to their own values, but all of them maintain that close relations are important.

Anyway yes, I am disappointed that May-hem gets to continue her term.

The DUP disgusts me and if they are in power, in any circumstance, trouble will be ahead. I find them to be an incredibly weak party with little to no stability within their own party. They will all fail because of the conflict in Northern Ireland. Nothing will sit right and I want that to change. Oh and it's not just their history, I hate them because they are racist, sexist and homophobic, its just the icing on the cake. A crappy cake.

The DUP and Tories are not going to do well, it will be chaos. They aren't going to handle Brexit well because Brexit can't be handled well.

Honestly when conservatives are in power you know the country will fail in one way or another, the same could be said for democrats but the trend isn't as strong.

George Osborne on the BBC was quite funny, he can't stand Teresa May he must be enjoying her downfall.

If you look at the title you can see this isn't about the United States of Terror but rather the United Kingdoom (the doom was intentional, clearly) so please stay on topic. Thank you sooooooooo MUCHHHHH! ;)

I wish we didn't have to work with such a pathetic and gross excuse of a man but I suppose we have to, maintaining peace is a priority.

You needn't worry about our PM working with the president anyway, Teresa May likes working with Orange men.

Saw on Facebook that Corbyn is preparing a Queen's Speech for when/if May fails to serve as a leader of the country.
