Magikarp learns Tackle at Level 15, so it can attack, even if Tackle doesn't do much damage. I occasionally battle Magikarp trainers to make my weaker Pokemon stronger.

Magikarp can learn Bounce from ORAS move tutors, too, which is cool. Z-Splash + Bounce anyone?
 
I love Magikarp! And that Z-splash is a thing. :D I tried to make a Magikarp dangerous once by giving it TMs with some AR hacks. It still couldn't beat anything, but it was pretty funny.
 
Magicarp is strange. Magikarp, on the other hand, is pretty cool! ;)
 
I wouldn't say I love Magikarp, but it's certainly a cute Pokemon.
 
I think it's a decent Pokemon. It evolves to Gyarados which is inspirational come to think of it. XD
