How did you get all the houses next to each other?

I put patterns down. Since the update villagers don't move on paths you can cover the town in 6x6 squares. The ones you leave open villagers move into.

ahh i love hand drawn maps! I've seen a few floating around the net and I've always wanted to make one of my town, but it wasn't completed back then so I put it off. Maybe I'll attempt it now that I've finished landscaping it.
