I figured it out! I added both of you guys and will have my gates open.
I just updated my friend code, so the one that starts with a "2" is the correct one!

Your town is not coming up, make sure when you opened the gates you did not select best friends

This is the first time opening the gates so I had to go through the whole spiel with the monkey
Not to mention getting my picture taken and stuff.
