i have kate and i need to go to another town FAST

ok i went to their FAQ and i found this

This can be caused by your network, or the network of the person you are connecting with. If these steps do not resolve your connection issue, have your friend try them as well.
 
Hrmm, well it worked yesterday fine :( and i've rebooted my modem. Try rebooting your modem as I said.
 
Yeah I'm posting just fine too... Trust me, it's not the posting/web-browsing that's the issue, it's differently related... It's hard to explain as I work in I.T but trust me just reset it!
