I posted this on nsider, so im gonna post it here also, the thread said the following:

"Why do they ask me what blood type i am?

I mean, what are they gonna use it for?"

Discuss.
 
I think they do that just so it's not so obvious they need your birthday for the calander, but it is.

When your doing Nook's tasks he asks you to talk to the animlas. The first one you talk to (aftter meeting them all) will ask your birthday.
 
It's a piece of Japanese culture, left in from Doubutsu no Mori e+ (much of the animal's conversations and interactions are similar to that in DnMe+): some Japanese think blood type determines personality in the same way that some people here think astrology (your zodiac sign) can.
 
I think they ask it to move you in a town with citizens that you'll get along with.
I answered A and I got the quiet-body-building-unintimidating ones.
 
Blood type is determined by three alleles... you inherit one from each parent....

Then there's an issue of co-dominace.

I just said I didn't know, but at the beginning of my game nobody asked until later on.
