Gardening Badge Question

So I have quite a few questions regarding this badge:

1. Do Bell Trees count? Cause I know fruit trees count, just want to know if bell trees do too..

2. If I plant a tree sapling, can i just immediately dig it out or do I have to wait for it to grow before it counts?

It only mentions planting items, so I assume that bell trees counts as much as starts, saplings, fruits, or flower seeds.

I don't know if you can dig it out immediately or not. I'd think you could since it's planting that counts, but I'm not sure if that includes letting it grow.
