Introduction:
Lord Voldemort has returned and his rise to power has been swift and brutal. With the Ministry of Magic toppled and his Death Eaters in control, it is up to Harry Potter, prophesised as the Chosen One, to bring an end to his power. With him stand the Order of the Phoenix, set up in 1970 to combat the first rise of the Dark Lord, it has reconvened to meet this resurgent threat. Will Lord Voldemort's campaign to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate the Muggles succeed, or will the Order of the Phoenix triumph over him?

Death Eater MP = 3 (1 + MP Contribution)
This game uses an open setup. All the roles in the game, as well as the number of each role are known. A player's exact role will be revealed upon their death or imprisonment.
Players will be randomly assigned roles just before the game starts.
The Order of the Phoenix
Brave Wizard (Vanilla Townie)
A wizard who refuses to cower and submit to Voldemort. They stand with Dumbledore and fight for what is right, even if it will cost them everything. Their only weapons are their voice and their vote.
Sybill Trelawney (Town Drunk)
It was implied on many occasions that Professor Trelawney had a drinking problem. Every night in a drunken stupor, Trelawney will visit a random person. Neither Trelawney nor her visitee will be informed of the visit. Trelawney lives in denial, and believes she is a Brave Wizard.
Severus Snape (Self-Aware Miller)
Snape has sacrificed so much - his love, his reputation, his adult life, to fight against evil. They say that Slytherins are unhappy because they plot, but they are wrong. He chose unhappiness because he alone is willing and able to do what is neccessary to stop the Death Eaters. Snape will return Death Eater to alignment checks. He is aware of this fact.
Harry Potter (Innocent Child)
The Boy Who Lived, and the one who gives hope to all good wizards. At the start of the game, the host will publicly reveal the identity of Harry Potter. Protected by the magic of his mother's love, Harry Potter has two night lives.
Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore (Veteran)
Both old and experienced wizards, they have experienced their fair share of duels and know how to look after themselves. They have two night lives.
Aurors Mad-Eye Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt (Tracker/Watcher)
The Aurors are the elite officers of the Ministry, trained to investigate and interdict Dark wizards. Every night, an Auror can choose either to Track or Watch a target. Tracking a target will return a list of all players that target visited during the night. Watching a target will return a list of all players who visited that target during the night. Aurors can watch themselves.
Firenze (Alignment Cop)
Firenze the Great Seer was cast out of the herd for his beliefs, and chose to aid the humans in their fight against Voldemort. Once per night, he may find out the alignment of a player.
Healers Fawkes and Madam Pomfrey (Doctor)
While both tend to the wounds of wizards in their own way, they both use their abilities for good. Every night, a Healer can protect a player, preventing one Killing Curse from affecting them. A healer cannot protect themself and cannot protect the same person two nights in a row. Both the target and the Healer will be notified if a kill is prevented in this way.
Vigilantes Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black
This is a war, and lives have to be taken in war. Once per game during the night, a Vigilante can target a player with the Killing Curse. The curse is only used up upon a successful cast. Vigilantes cannot kill on Night 1.
Twins Fred and George Weasley (Sleeper Vigilante)
The prankster twins of the Weasley family, they have some surprising ability with the wand. Ordinarily they have no powers, but if one dies or is Imprisoned, the other will become a Vigilante and seek revenge.
Dobby the Free Elf (Bodyguard)
A brave house elf and one of Harry's most loyal friends. Every night, Dobby may choose to protect a player. If that player is to be killed, Dobby will sacrifice himself and die in the player's place. Only the player will be notified of the sacrifice.
The Death Eaters
Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Antonin Dolohov, Peter Pettigrew and Yaxley (Mafia Goon)
They who wear the mask, the faceless Death Eaters want only to promote purity of magical blood and to stamp out the rise of muggle-born wizards. Purity of blood is all that matters to the Death Eater and as such he or she will forever fight on the side of Voldemort to kill those who fight to keep Muggles and Muggle-borns alive.
Each Death Eater contributes 1 Magic Point (MP) and can be chosen to cast a spell during the night.
Lord Voldemort (Godfather)
Tom Marvolo Riddle was an exceptional wizard but his unending quest for immortality has taken his humanity from him; to many this would be a setback but to Lord Voldemort it is just one step on the path to shedding his mortal shackles. With his unrivalled skill at magic he contributes 2 MP. As a skilled Occlumens and Legilimens, he returns Order of the Phoenix to alignment checks.
Death Eater Spells
Death Eaters have access to a number of spells to help them achieve their objective. These spells can be used at night at the cost of MP. The MP available is equal to the contributions from each Death Eater, plus 1. MP may be spent on any combination of the following spells. One member of the Death Eaters must be nominated to cast each spell. A single Death Eater can cast multiple spells provided that all other Death Eaters are casting spells too. Unspent MP will not carry over to the next night.
Avada Kedavra (2 MP)
The infamous killing curse that causes instantaneous death.
Cruciatus Curse (1 MP)
Excruciating pain is inflicted on the target of this curse, rendering them incapable of performing any actions on that night. The target will only be informed of this if their action was blocked. A player may not be targeted with this two nights in a row.
Imperius Curse (1 MP)
This curse brings the target under the complete control of the caster. The target can be made to visit any chosen player that night, and their suspicious actions will also cause them to return Death Eater to any inspections. The target will still perform their own actions (on their original target) unhindered. A target cannot be Imperiused two nights in a row.
Protego (1 MP)
This defensive shield charm can somehow prevent the effects of a single Killing Curse on a target. The target and caster of this spell will be informed if a curse was prevented, just like a Healer's save.
Other Forces
Rita Skeeter (Survivor)
A wound in the fabric of society, a misrepresentor, a hack whose words bring horror and fear to her subjects. That being said, this whole war thing is scary so she's going to try to wait it out, then write an amazing expose after the fact. She has no powers, and wins if she is still alive at the end of the game. She counts as Order of the Phoenix for win condition purposes.
PM kills and actions to me. They can be withdrawn or changed up until the end of night.
Order of the Phoenix win condition: Eliminate all Death Eaters
Death Eaters win condition: Equal or outnumber the Order.
Rita Skeeter win condition: Survive until the end of the game.
Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to):
1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like handing out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
5. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
6. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
7. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
8. Offering favours/items/bells outside of the game for a ingame information.
9. Sharing accounts with other players.
10. Posting a false role PM phrased as if you received it from the host. You can still fake roleclaim, but you cannot make it look like you are posting a PM you received from the host.

Wisdom of the Crowds
Wisdom of the Crowds is in effect. PM with the name of a player you do NOT want to play with. If I get enough PMs about a person, I will exclude them from the game. PMs will be treated with confidence.
Replacements
This game uses replacements. Replacements will be made in the game until the end of Night 2. If a player is modkilled during the designated time, then they will be replaced by a player on the replacement list.
Time Cycle:
This game will follow a 48 hour day and 24 hour night cycle. In case I am not able to post around deadline, any votes after the 48 hour mark will not count and the game will be put on halt until the night post is up. The deadline will normally be 11PM GMT. Night will always run for the full duration, even if all actions are sent in early. There will be a 30 minute resolution period before the end of night, where no further actions may be sent in. Relevant PMs will be sent out during this time.
This is the mod colour. It is reserved for the host. Please do not use it.

Activity:
You must post in this thread at least once per full day/night cycle and vote every day while you are alive. If you fail to do so, you will be modkilled.

Spam is not tolerated, nor is any off-topic material. Mafia is not a ****ing roleplay. This also means you should condense your posts when possible. 15 one-liners in 30 minutes is unacceptable.
Editing:
Editing is not allowed for any reason. Editing will result in a warning. After that, you will be modkilled. While I ask for everybody to post as concisely as possible, post again if you have to edit anything. The board software automatically merges the posts anyway.
Observers' Chat:
While spectators will be fuelling speculation, and dead players will be keen to give valuable "insight" into the game, please refrain from revealing game-changing information (eg. the identities of your fellow Mafia). Speculate, theorise and express bewilderment at dumb plays all you want, but remember that the chat is not leakproof and game-ruining information CAN get out.
Inappropriate posts:
Mafia games can get heated and emotional. Please keep it civil and remember that what happens in Mafia stays in Mafia. Don't let things spill over to the rest of the forum, it's just a game. If you are unhappy with a player's posts, PM me first. Only if you are dissatisfied with the outcome should you involve the TBT staff.
Play to win.
That said, you should try your best to help your team win while you are alive and in the game. Clearly not playing towards your win objective will be grounds for a modkill and ban. However, this does not mean that you should try to win by being a jerk to the other players so they all want to quit playing.
This also means that you cannot leave the game without a good reason. These situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. PM your host if you need to leave the game.

This game uses the officially enforced banlist. If you are modkilled for any reason, you will be subject to a minimum one game ban. The ban length will depend on the reason you were modkilled. Real life problems that pop up that require you to leave the game will be punished minimally. Things like getting yourself modkilled on purpose to use your non-majority decided lynch as a bargaining chip will earn you a lengthy ban.
