The Sage Rank

Hello all, I have two announcements to make today. I will get the Sage one out of the way first. As you can probably guess from the topic title, the Sage rank will be officially coming to a close soon. Sages were members given a special rank, like the NSider Sage rank (where the idea originated), for sticking around TBT and doing things for it. The program is somewhat outdated by now because it is hard to promote only certain people and the overall system had problems. A little while ago, it was announced that no more Sages would be promoted, and now the rank will be retired altogether.

Current Sages will loose their rank, however other opportunities will come up for everyone. Any experience Sages have made will of course go to bigger and better things, such as the committees which will be starting today as well. Sages that were previous staff, will also likely get a special rank. The group of members will still keep some things such as access to the Sage discussion board. Everything else hasn't been decided on yet. The Sages will also be remembered in things such as the Member Library, and anything related to TBT history or the rank. This decision has been discussed for a long period of time and Staff, Sages, and normal members agree that it should happen, so now it will.

Discuss retiring the Sage rank here.

Two Committees: Sign Up Today

TBT is moving forward and this is another step in the right direction. Committees will help with their own particular aspect of TBT. We will now be starting them with two groups: Events and Animal Crossing Content.

The Event Committee will work on contests and going-ons at the TBT forums. Examples of previous things at TBT that would have been helped with by this committee, if it existed back then: TBT Fair, Camp Redd, Tide, Sunlight, Sig Contests, etc. The first task of this committee will include an end-of-summer event.

The Animal Crossing Content Committee will work on site things such as Animal Crosisng guides, portals, updated features, articles, etc. This is, in my opinion, the most important committee. It's products will be the backbone of the site and will draw in a great amount of new members. The first tasks of this committee will include organizing the current AC site projects as well as getting them finished!

Now, you may be thinking that you should join one of these right away because it is something new. But please only apply if you want to help out with these things. Perhaps you would rather wait for another committee (some ideas listed here). Or perhaps you still want to join one of these two, but will quit once one you want even more is out (remember though, you can be in more than one). Either way, if you'd like to apply to join a committee, this is how:

If you want to apply for the Event Committee, PM Bulerias this application:
1. Why do you want to join the event committee?
2. What are some ideas for events you have?
3. What do you think you will do when you're in the committee?

If you want to join the Animal Crossing Content Commitee, PM StormCommander this application:
1. Why do you want to join the AC content committee?
2. What content at the site have you already been involved in (if any)?
3. What specific thing(s) do you think you might want to help out with on the site in terms of Animal Crossing content?

The amount of people that will be accepted in the committee for the first time is undecided. Everyone will have the opportunity to join any committee at any time, even if you've applied before. The methods of applying may be different in the future. For this first round of committees, the staff will decide which members will be in the groups (committee managers may in the future). There will be no managers (other than the staff) until the committee has been around for a while.

Discuss committees and ask questions here.
