I know it won't help you get your town back, but there's a way to lock your Switch using parental controls and it might help to keep him from accessing your files in the future. Here's a how-to if you want to see if it might help you.

I think KhalidPrecious mentioned in his thread that he did reset a few times. My guess is that the game won't save until you officially name the island.

I can confirm that errors like Aloma instead of Aroma do often occur with rough file names and translations. In fact, if I recall correctly, the player "Sara" in the February Direct was under the User Profile of "Sala," so there's that.

I've heard there's 80 total Bugs and 80 Fish, and I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple butterflies that I never saw in New Leaf, including what I suspect is a Paper Kite Butterfly. So there'll be SOME new things, but with a lack of diving so far, I expect quite a few deep-sea critters will be cut.

I heard in a review that there's a little bit of a story that ends around the time the game fully opens up, but it made it sound more like a lengthy tutorial, or background as to WHY you're here on that island. My guess is there'll be a tiny little story and then it's just what you make of it.

Can confirm, I literally made a side character in New Leaf and put the house in the most remote, out of the way corner of my town, specifically for this purpose. Pattern and item storage.

Something about the 8 am track makes me think of Persona 5. I'm not sure why. Just the lower instrumental notes... It's not a bad thing but I think it's going to be a thing that never leaves my mind.
