For what it's worth, I time traveled ahead two weeks, and the problem fixed itself. Suddenly the villager was present, their icon was fixed, etcetc.

Unfortunately no. :( I liked them, but it drove me nuts that the starting 5 villagers have generic furniture and never replace it with their own. So I ended up letting them move out, and I'll ask them back with amiibo cards eventually.

I can pick him up in about an hour -- just need to clear a space, but it won't take long at all. I can offer 30 Nook Miles tickets, 10mil bells, and I have Cole and Punchy amiibo cards if you'd be willing to wait a bit while I TT them out so you don't get the glitch. :)
