  • I’m thinking of making a new Harry Potter themed town, do you have any good ideas?

I have a thread for this~ feel free to have a look
I really should finish the short story that I started a year or two ago lol

Or actually write down the ideas for a campaign that I've had for a while.
Though despite the lack of free time, I've been wanting to get back into gaming... or being social in general. But because I've been absent for such a long while, I feel guilty about showing up...

On another note, I do want to get back into writing and world building, I'm just not sure what.
Between work and studying, I don't really have much in the terms of free time. So my weekends are generally spent relaxing with my girlfriend than my gaming group.
I work for a small engineering company that manufactures and maintains industrial chillers. They're sort of like a cooling system for large equipment. My official role is an administrator, though I predominantly deal with the supply of spare parts, and organising technicians to sites. I'm actually undertaking a technical degree in engineering so that I could potentially be more hands on.

What sort of studies are you doing at university?

And if you ever want more advice about GMing, or want to bounce ideas, feel free to ask.
I understand that life can get a little busy. I'm just glad that you're doing ok.

I've been OK, though lately I've started doing night classes again, so I'm trying to juggle work, education and free time.

And hopefully my advice for GMing makes sense.
okay! by the way, i noticed you put blue tulips in the order but they don't exist. do you want 10 more of another blue flower or should i just exclude that?
hiya! I am online right now and should be available for the next few hours, if you come online then I can drop off your order of items+flowers any time c: I'll be away for the day after around 1 pm edt though. but should be back around 11!
My biggest tip for being a GM is knowing the rules well enough that you know how to fudge a rule or make a decision on the fly. And I don't mean needing to know every particular rule for every little detail, but being able to extrapolate the system to something that fits any situation. This is because your players are bound to do something that you have planned for, and you don't want to slow things down by pouring through books for an obscure rule that might not exist. It's better to run with your players' shenanigans than to restrict them to what is cemented in the rulebooks.
What systems I've personally ran, or what systems I've been a player? Because I've been on both sides, and my group have gone through a lot lol

    I've been a GM for:
    Advanced Dungeons and Dragons
    D&D 3rd Ed.
    Mekton Zeta
    GURPS
    Iron Kingdoms
    HackMaster
    HackMaster 4th Ed.
    Savage Worlds
    Shadowrun 3rd Ed.
Not sure if I've missed any...

I've been played for all of the above (with exception of Iron Kingdoms) plus the following:
    Star Wars D20
Star Wars: Edge of the Empire
    Pathfinder
    Cyberpunk
    Robotech (uses Palladium System)
And I'm sure there's others, but I can't think of them at the moment lol
I used to run a few of my gaming groups tabletop RPG sessions, so I used to predominantly write storylines and ideas for their upcoming sessions/quests... however, as I often didn't restrict or penalise the players on their actions, I'd often have to think on my feet an alter my ideas to suit.

But I also used to write short stories on occassion. Predominantly horror or fantasy, with the emphasis on horror and supernatural lol.
If I had more money, I'd have a shelf of art books with concept artwork from games and what not. Honestly, just thinking about concept art, mythology and what not is sort of making me want to do some writing.

By the way, do you mind if I add you?
I thoroughly enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles... up to Memnoch the Devil. I wasn't sure about involving Christianity into the mythos.

As for my favourite... it's hard to say. The Vampire Lestat is definitely a standout one.

And I'm curious as to what the Monster Girl Encyclopaedia is?
Hi and thanks for the like on the "What are you interested in? (Possibly find lifeforms with similar tastes)" thread
