Yep, that would be the way I know how to do it. You need to be careful though, some animals refuse to leave even if you say yes to them so if they refuse just keep the date of moving in mind and don't save. Then just jump forward from there.
It is 12:18am for me, but I'm willing to hold the current time till around 11 am tomorrow.
I personally don't know of a way to automatically kick a villager out of your town quickly without using the amiibo cards, which would be moot because it would still leave you with 10 villagers if you did it that way
What I was trying to say was, I can hold him for you for a little bit, (till tomorrow morning basically) and if you have someone moving out of your town soon you can jump to past their moving day and come get him if you don't mind time traveling.
