Do different colored items count separately towards your catalog?

For example, say there is a green vending machine and a blue vending machine (hypothetically of course. I don't actually know if these colors exist). Would both colors give you a seperate marking for your catalog?

I know there is a nook miles goal based on the amount of items a user has in their catalog.

I don't think the color variations count as separate entries for the sake of expanding the catalog. If you have more than one color of something and you look at the catalog, there is a single entry and you can see the different variations you have on that one entry.
