With how people talk about New Leaf like they are in some sort of cult, and want everything to be like New Leaf, do you think New Horizons will stand the test of time? Or will it be forgotten about like Wild World and City Folk seem to be? I'm genuinely concerned, because, despite some problems I might have with the game, I still think it's a good game. Am I getting worried over nothing? Or do I make a valid point?

I can see myself playing this game forever. I played the absolute heck out of acnl, and this game is just so much more.

Absolutely! I mean some people might want to go back to new leaf because they are upset at some of the things that weren't brought over, and that's fine. But I see this gaming having way more little upgrades from new leaf. (furniture on the beach, customizable rivers and cliffs, the ability to determine where buildings go, way more options for character appearance, plus about 50 more things). This is the latest animal crossing game, I really really doubt it's going to "die" ^.-

Yea, there are going to be update roll-outs. The New Leaf obsession kind of annoying but there are plenty of people who are willing to play and wait for new stuff.

The game has been out for ten days. I think it is a bit early to worry about it having longetivity or not.

Im optimistic! I just think New Leaf was so iconic but New Horizons is so much more and I have so much more real life friends playing that makes the game more fun for me.

The only thing new leaf has over New Horizons is it feels like villagers had more dialogue. I feel very nostalgic for New Leaf as its one of my favorite games ever and due to nostalgia i dont think New Horizons will take its spot. But thats not to say ill stop playing new horizons in the forseeable future.

I think it'll be fine. As time goes on, more gets unlocked, people start to fill their catalogs, DLC is released, and what not...people will stop panicking and I'm sure it'll have as much of a following as New Leaf.

True. I just haven't seen many New Leaf players get on board with the game, which made me worry, since it seemed the most popular AC game.

While I agree that the game has only been out for 10+ days, I do feel very optimistic at how long this game will last! The quality-of-life improvements in this game are amazing, and while it does have its problems it's become one of my favorite games on my Switch and for sure get plenty more days and hours of playtime from me

The game sold extremely well and is one of the top categories on twitch. It's doing fine without them lol

I admit the amount being sold will help longevity, but I don't trust some Twitch Streamers/Youtubers. Some of them treat Tom Nook like the devil because you aren't given everything for free, lol. Like working hard for things doesn't exist to them, lol.

i think it will. while it might not be like new leaf, it’s dare i say, better in certain aspects. i think once we get updates rolling out and more features unlocked, people will start to like the game more aha

hope so. just need to see what the devs add to it to keep it living. i almost feel like after the initial gimmick of terraforming and crafting wear off it’s quite barebones and doesn’t offer much in way of stuff to do after landscaping and decorating

if it wants to be the definitive experience then it should hopefully take full advantage of dlc and offer more than previous instalments which i don’t think it does currently

Honestly, this game already feels like it has tons to do, and I haven't even seen any of the update-related content from the Day 1 update (Bunny Day). I'm personally not worried about it.

Its difficult to let go of the old and embrace the new. Its to early to tell, but I think New Horizons have found a dedicated audience regardless of every ACNL player will remain on board for the future.

Yes 100% yes. This game is booming right now obviously since it just released, but with new customization options, I feel that people will get new ideas and stay playing for longer since they can just change stuff around their town with relative ease. The moving system is also a lot less stressful, so if you do have people who take breaks, they'll be more likely to come back. Part of the reason I gave up New Leaf for good in like 2018 was because I didn't want to commit myself to a week and then accidentally leave on a day a villager decided to move out.

I actually can't put it down.
I LOVE New Leaf and it was one of my favorite games ever but let's be honest... it's quite outdated in terms of graphics.
This game offers so much more and the customization is endless.
And with the updates we will be getting, honestly, there are so many possibilities and things to come so I think people will be playing it for many many years.

How was New Leaf any better in that regard though?
You basically got to decorate your house(s) and trade villagers. You couldn't even put furniture outside and everything was limited to public works projects.
The way you get to decorate in this game is phenomenal and I'm sure with future updates, it will only get better.
