How popular/valuable are the octopus villagers?

They are pretty rare, and all three are rather well liked. You got very lucky. Octavian is amazing, and my favoirte of the three.

I have octavian on my island and he is amazing 
all three are pretty well liked, but i don't think you should get him just because he's popular or rare or valuable. get him if you like his aesthetic and personality, that's what matters. i personally love the cranky personality, and the way he looks makes me happy, so i really enjoy having him

All three of them are super popular, and since there are only three they are very rare. I think I got lucky by getting two of them from the islands, so if they decide to leave my town one day I can make some bells!
Marina is by far the most popular and sought-out of the three, but they're all pretty popular. There's only three octopi in the game so they are "rare" in that sense, but you have an equal chance of getting one as you do of getting any villager

There's only three of 'em so that right there makes them fairly valuable.I've had him in New Leaf for a long time and he's also in my New Horizons island.He's a fun villager in both games and one of my favorites.
