How does trading villagers work?

I’m aware of the current glitch going around right now, so this isn’t anything I’m trying to do today, but if I have a villager that asks me to move out, how do I go about trading this villager with someone else? I have both Octavian and Marina, but I want to send Marina away and maybe get someone I want better, but I’m not sure how it works.

I think the glitch is linked to the campsite, mainly. You'd have to get Marina out of your island and have someone else come and ask her to join their island. That same person should also have to have an available villager for you (maybe at the same time, that should be negotiated

)

I see, so, I just wait until Marina asks me to leave, and someone can adopt her that day? I’m assuming I’d have limited time to find a partner
