I know there is probably already a thread like this out there, but I couldn't find it, so I'll ask here: what did you name your island, and why?

I thought it'd be fun to ask, as I believe that each island "tells a story" so to speak.

I named my island Kudoclasm, after seeing the word in a Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows video.

Anyways, the name is kind of sad, but beautiful. I felt it was fitting, though, for the place I am currently at in my life. I feel that I am "free falling" back to Earth, slowly losing grasp of all the unrealistic dreams that once kept me adrift above clouds. It's the feeling of waking up from a vivid dream only to find myself no longer able to transcend the limited plane of existence that is reality. Animal Crossing is a sort of escape from reality - the "we dream to survive" part of the video just resonates with me...it just seemed fitting make it the name of my town.

Looking forward to your guys' responses!

I like how personal your island's name is and how you put so much thought into it. I hope you're able to find peace and comfort and am sorry to hear you seem to feel destabilized and unhappy.

I named mine Seaheaven for no particular reason other than it sounded cute and I wanted an oceanic sounding name.

I named my island Koi Pond. This may seem like an odd choice for an island as it's not exactly traditionally tropical like some of the other island names on here, but it's something that I really liked. It came to me at the very last possible second when I was trying to decide what to name my island. I had settled on a few more tropical names before it popped into my head, and as soon as it did I fell in love with it and knew that's what my island would be called. I love koi and goldfish, and I've always wanted to do a Japanese/Zen theme, so it was really perfect.

Lilac Bay.

Lilac is my favorite flower and i thought Bay went well with the island theme.

I named my town "FlatEarth" so everyone who takes a villager from me has to get blasted with conspiracy theories when they speak to them. "I am from FlatEarth!" something about this is very amusing to me.

I had a few other things in mind, but i felt the references were too obscure so I went with FlatEarth.

i named my island Axolotl - i got the name from sierra’s “island names for sale” thread and immediately fell in love with the name aha

Named it Zucchini! I was looking up something on google, and accidentally searched Zucchini. I thought it was adorable.

I'm not necessarily unhappy, it's just that I've started to wake up and realize that some of my lifelong dreams are never going to happen/are unrealistic. I am realizing that this whole time, I've been having dreams of places I'll never be able to visit, things I'll never get to do, careers I'll never be able to have. I've had to take on a more realistic vision of how my future is going to play out. I guess another way of saying it is "growing up," but I like the sound of "kudoclasm" better. I know what my limitations are; I understand the reality of my situation, and as such, I'm starting to realize which dreams are and aren't realistic.

My island is named Everbloom - The island that never resets nor enters time travel, and will hopefully be filled with plenty of hybrids and flower decor! I made a daily log in my signature to record its progress.

I named my island Gilligan because the first thing that popped into my head when it came to naming the place was that old TV show Gilligan's Island.I thought I'd name it after one of the characters from the show.....the Skipper's real name on the show is Jonas Grumby,so I considered naming the island "Grumby" but that sounded too much like "Gumby".Mrs.Howell's first name was "Lovey"and my island came very close to being called that but I went with Gilligan....it sounds vaguely Irish.

Just... Springs. It's been my name for every town since I first played City Folk when I was 9.
At the time, from what I remember, I was hoping to name my town "[Something] Springs", like a real-life city might be named. But, of course, it didn't fit, so I decided to just go with Springs.
(I just looked it up out of curiosity... apparently, there are two places in the US called Springs in Pennsylvania and New York. They aren't even proper cities.)

I named my island Cygnus, its Greek fro swan but it was the name of a train station and constellation in my favorite book, Night on the galactic railroad. The book is really philosophical and beautiful so It came to mind to name it after a place in it. :D

Demalicé

A mixture of my two Daughters names Demi & Alice :)

mine is Meraki! i was going to name it mikrokosmos after the bts song but it had too many letters :( then i looked up aesthetic words on pinterest and meraki just stuck

My island is Maka Wuhu, inspired by Wii Sports Resort. My sister and I were talking about names for an hour, and I suggested it as a joke, but then we both liked the idea a lot, and so it happened.

NeoLeafton.

I wanted to name my town after my town name I had in New Leaf. And add "Neo" to it so it can be sorta like a sequel to my New Leaf town.

Our Island, because I am a vision of originality. And because it runs with the names of my past towns: My Town and Our Town. Plus the dialogue is adorbs ex: “The able sisters are opening a store on Our Island!”

Mine is Stellaria because I like solar stellar and also found out Stellaria is the name of multiple plants and
flowers so it literally perfect!

Dope username, profile pic, and now island name...you gotta be stopped.

Calla Bryn has a nice ring to it and it comes from the book series, The Dark Tower. Calla Bryn Sturgis is the town's name in the books.

My character's name, Cuthbert, is also from those books.
