Mystery island and fruit question

Rarely I have seen a non-native type of fruit on island tours, but they have always been the same one that was sent in the post by you in-game mum on the first/second day.
Best way to get all fruit is to try find a few people to trade with on this forum!

It seems to be very uncommon! I go a few times a day and I've only seen non-native fruit twice. It seems the islands are inclined to give you your own native fruit and flower by default, with something else being about as common as the Bamboo Island.
(Though in my case, I haven't seen the tarantula or shark island - just bamboo and non-native fruit. I guess you can only luck out on one or the other!)

My native is Cherries, the fruit I got in the mail was Apples. The only non-native fruit I have come across on the tours was Orange, I've seen them 3 times already. Hope it's possible to run into the other non-native fruits.
Its very rare. I have been on a lot of trips, only had different fruit twice. I think all other island types are really rare, but I have seen bamboo the most out of the non generic similar islands to your town.

Most of the time I've been taken to an island with pears and lilies, which are my native fruit and flower. However, there have been a few islands I've been to that had other stuff, such as a few islands which had oranges, an island which had bamboo trees, and even an island which had pink, orange and black lilies everywhere.
On my island tours I've never seen any islands with apples, peaches or cherries though. I've also not seen any islands with any flower type other than lilies and pansies.

you can find a non-native fruit, but only one! for example, my native fruit is peaches, and sometimes i find apples on islands. any other foreign fruit aside from apples i would need to trade for as i would not ever find them on island tours.
Yes, that seems to be the case. I need cherries but i keep getting peach islands as my non native fruit. I was hoping my mom would come through for me and send some but she already sent me apples. Is trading the only way to get the rest?
