howdy guys!! do you enjoy anime as much as me or the next guy?
if so, let me know what your favorite anime is and why!
you can even mention when or why you got into anime!
if you're not interested in it, feel free to share your thoughts too, just don't be rude! <3

to start us off, my favorite anime of all time is NANA, it's a slice of life
and focuses on two very different girls who share the same name.
it's extremely deep and complex and i highly recommend it to anyone who wants
to feel alive and experience normal and intense human emotions
with all the complicated parts of our lives and others; how they intertwine with our own too.

others i enjoyed are parasyte, steins;gate, attack on titan

i'd have to say kuroko no basket is my fav. of all time. don't get me wrong alot of the old stuff and new stuff is great and i still love them all but knb just stole my heart. i never thought a sports anime would do that tbh. not only is the art amazing (don't get me started on how much i envy tadatoshi fujimaki for his skill on anatomy and action poses and all the animators that took his work from the pages and made them come to life, they are just as amazing if you ask me.) but the story, music, and pace are just great. i like all of it, they even did cute blooper reels that make ya laugh at moments that shouldn't of been funny. yeah there are some small plot issues (like things that should of been called out by a ref on the court.) but nothing that kills it for me at all. it gets ya in the feels in good ways and lights a fire in you. it also doesn't only focus on one character and i like that, you get the whole team, even the bench warmers get their time to shine in episodes, and they feel real. it's funny, has action, friendship, and it's actually relate-able. also some of the voice actors do the music too. speaking of the music...it's one of the few anime that i don't skip any of the openings or endings i mean even FMA had one song i didn't much care for that much, it wasn't bad i just didn't care to listen to it every time. i mean i've watched and re-watched knb 4 times now in completion and never skipped em...thats saying something.

my friend recently got into another sports anime called prince of tennis. she loves it. from what i;ve learned, lots of sports anime tend to be very popular with good character development, etc like free!, haikyuu! yowamushi pedal, kuroko's basketball and prince of tennis, even yuri on ice!! all sports anime. my personal favorite is free!<3 thats super cute too, i love when they incorporate those blooper scenes to things! makes it all the more intimate and enjoyable. i love animes like that too- that let all the characters get their moment to shine! i'm glad it was something you enjoyed! i keep getting recommended to watch FMA but never got around to it as yet, hopefully soon!! thanks for sharing that about knb!

My favorite Anime—honestly my favorite show of all time—is March Comes In Like A Lion

Everything from the depth of the story and characters down to the art style and music is incredible!

I can only recommend it to anyone who loves character-driven stories, doesn't mind slow pacing, and can relate to (or at least understand) struggling with growing up and depression. It has an impeccable balance of sad and sweet moments, can hit really heavy or mellow you out all within one episode.

If you haven't seen it, give it a try—both seasons are on Netflix!

EDIT: Oh, did I forget to mention it's technically also a sports Anime? Well prepare to get invested in a Japanese board game that you barely understand but suddenly care a lot about!

It's really hard for me to pick just one favorite anime, so I'll give a couple of my top favorites:

- Elfen Lied
- Serial Experiments Lain
- Vampire Princess Miyu OVAs

As far as more current anime, I really loved Violet Evergarden and I'm currently in love with Somali and the Forest Spirit. I prefer serious, thought-provoking stories with characters that make me feel a deep emotional connection, but I do watch a lot of other genres too.

I've been watching anime for probably 20-25 years now. I first started watching because my boyfriend in high school loved anime, so he picked some series that he knew I would like to get me interested. Record of Lodoss War, Vampire Princess Miyu, Vampire Hunter D, and Princess Mononoke were the first ones to capture my attention. Since then, I've branched out and become a legitimate anime fan myself. I just love how anime can tackle so many different types of stories and do things that just wouldn't come across quite right in live-action.

yeah i've actually started haikyuu! recently (haven't hit past ep 2 yet cuz been sick/busy) but it's pretty good. i haven't watched free! yet but i aim to give it a peep. sadly yuri on ice just didn't grab me idk why same with prince of tennis but i watched up to ep 5 of both in hopes i might get grabbed but it kinda fell flat but then again alot of people hyped it to me too much so that could be my issue going in to it expecting way too much. but yeah sports anime are definitely a new category i enjoy. FMA is really good, i loved it, and if ya get the chance give it a shot (it's not a one size fits all but thats the same with all anime). thanks for the info on nana. my sis had watched it and said i should but i just never got around to it but i'm kinda interested now.

i've seen it pop up for me on netflix and was certainly interested in giving it a try- i also DO RECOMMEND CAROLE AND TUESDAY which is also on netflix! that is extremely unique, different and overall just a wonderful anime to have in this time with so much mainstreams and cliches happening. it also has people of all skin colors in here, protagonists are caucasian and african american girls, both aspiring musicians! lovely soundtracks- songs they sing are in english and both sub and dub are good<3 i'll be sure to give that a try!

My favorites are,

1. Parasyte the maxim
2. Kill la Kill
3. RWBY

In that order. I’ve watched other stuff, but those remain at the top for me. :)

i think elfen lied was one of the first anime i watched by myself. it was pretty good! i also loved vampire hunter d, one of my favorite movies and art style. he's a really cool vampire for sure. and if you prefer anime like that then i HIGHLY recommend you NANA because that is by far the most emotional, thought provoking, slice of life well served that i've ever seen. more thought provoking was also steinsgate as that dealt with a lot of parallel universes and what ifs, also emotional and slice of life and sciency aspects to it as well! studio ghibli films are also a personal favorite of mine!

i'm surprised it's not MHA!! i also love parastye, it's a top for me as well!! i can't even begin to explain how amazing and well put together that anime was! wish there was more <3

i used to watch rwby all the time too! i stopped at season 3 tho, never got to continue!

i'm hoping free! catches you!! it has great art, character development for rin matsuoka is lovely and he's MY BEST BOY. many people didnt like him at first bc he was angry and seemed very mean, but theres sooo much more to him and what happened, and he grows into SUCH a phenomenal character! i never watched yuri but i have seen its popularity shine! im interested in knb the most and yowamushi pedal/haikyuu probs!

edit: omg yes please give nana a try!! it's so unique and i've never found an anime that gave me the feelings and thoughts like nana did. it really did impact me so much. the dub is also phenomenally done! music is fun too, lots of bands and punk and rock stuff. if you end up watching it and wanna talk about it, id love to bc theres so much to discuss about it

  2. Youjo Senki
  3. SukaSuka
Honorable mentions:
  1. JoJo
  2. Overlord
  3. HxH
  4. Nichijou
  5. Kekkai Sensen
  6. Konosuba
  7. Made in Abyss
  8. Love is war
  9. Gintama

I'm really into Science/War Esque shows and also sometimes into Romance or Psychological depending on mood. I didn't care too much for Steins;Gate after the first time I watched it but after playing the VNs, the anime became 10x better. Youjo Senki combines a cool fantasy theme along with wartime feel that plays with some real historical battles. Youjo Senki also has a Psychological theme resembling a game of chess with the whole human being versus a God figure. Lastly, SukaSuka was my first favorite anime and I watched it when I was getting into animes so it holds a special place in my heart.

steins;gate started off sort of eh for me but the more i watched, the more i was intrigued by it and watched it out and the movies as well, i also did the visual novels! it was all certainly very enjoyable! i don't enjoy animes with much cliches anymore so it's hard for me to get into things that are like how re:zero has the same tropes and guy with bloody nose, etc it gets kind of boring- but i am giving it more a try since i heard the cliches are part of his character for a reason. anyway science war stuff can be really cool for sure, i haven't watched much but i did see a few here and there! lots of good honorable mentions. jojo has a huge fanbase for a reason!! so does hxh~ gintama is hilarious!

I don't watch anime very often, but I recently got into Demon Slayer (or Kimetsu no Yaiba) and I've been loooving it! I put off watching the anime for a while, but when I finally did I binge watched season 1 in one night and caught up on the whole manga a few days later lmao. It's definitely my new favorite.

I mostly enjoyed Yu Yu Hakusho and Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a kid.

Oh, yes, I've seen Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate Zero. They are excellent. Fun fact, I like to pick a villager or two in my Animal Crossing towns and give them 'Tu-tu-ru' as a greeting. It sounds so cute when they say it in animalese. :p

I also really like Attack on Titan, which you mentioned in your first post. I've heard of NANA but never seen it before. I didn't really know what it was about, to be honest. But the way you describe it makes me want to give it a try. I might have to add it to my watchlist.

i'm pretty passionate about nana lmao, like. i can't explain it but there's just not an anime like that for me that i've ever seen.. the complexity of it and the RAWNESS of it, is beyond me and it really leaves you SHOOK. i'm glad i ever gave that anime a try one day because it really did move me in so many ways that i can't ever forget.

i'm glad you enjoyed attack on titan and steinsgate!1 yess!! her tu tu ru is soo cute ;A; that's adorable to add to villagers greeting omg

Clannad. All-time favorite and always will be. I'm a huge sucker for romance so there's that. Some parts are a bit corny and I never cared much for the alternate story paths, but once you get past the surface-level stuff, my god it's a roller coaster of emotions. Especially After Story.

What I love about Clannad is yeah, it's a romcom but it isn't just the typical "x and y have a crush on each other but neither of them know it yet and once they finally fall in love let's end it there". Clannad goes beyond that and you finally get some answers as to what happens past high school. It's beyond lovely, though tragic, and I love it so much aaa ;o ;

also the ost is breathtaking

i watched clannad and it's after story! i really liked both, if i remember correctly, kanon shares a lot in common with clannad! my memory could be FRICKED but i think when i watched kanon i remember thinking to myself, this is basically the same thing as clannad!! AIR was also very nice, same feelings! but yeah, i really did enjoy clannad a lot when i saw it OH and angel beats, that is also the same feelings and very nice anime, good ost as well!

EDIT: the same author did clannad, AIR annnd KANON so there's that! ;^)

Ah, I thought they could've been related because of the similar art style but I didn't know they share the same author! Who's the author? They have good taste in stories haha! It's been a really long time since I've watched them all.. I don't watch anime anymore so my memory is a bit hazy. But I remember showing Air's sad ending to my friend, who never watched it (what a horrible thing to do to her lol), and she balled her eyes out so hard without even knowing the context or any of the characters. That's crazy sad writing if I'm being honest.

I never watched Angel Beats but I remember everyone being head over heels with it and it's opening!

Steins;Gate is easily my favourite anime. Nothing else really comes close, except maybe some Ghibli films.

Mushishi and Darker Than Black are anime series I also really love. Shiki is another that comes to mind, it's been ages since I watched it though.

My favorite anime currently would be death parade. It starts off pretty intense, but mellows out as you get used to it. I'm not sure of the category of it. But basically people die, and they go to the 'afterlife' but before that they have to play games. Where they are revealing their 'true colors'. Some of these involve physical violence. Depending on your reaction to the game and the way you play it, depends if you go to heaven or 'hell' which is just the abyss. I like each characters personalities, they don't exactly conflict with one another but they have differing ideologies(?) to one another. But overall I'd give it a 9/10. Koe No Katachi is pretty good as well. :) (basically the anime man now, huh?)
