Advice on my character name ideas....

I've decided to name my island & character based on my all time favorite movie - JAWS. I'm planning on naming my island Amity - the same name as the fictional island where the movie takes place. As for my character I'd like her to be a relative of the main human character in the movie, Chief Martin Brody. I'm thinking a granddaughter or niece, perhaps. I didn't want to name her "Val" because of my Mayor Val of Cutetown in NL. My first thought was a combo name - Val Brody. I liked this until it dawned on me that everyone would permanently call me "Val Brody" all the time. Now I've narrowed it down to 3 other options and would like to see what you all think. I've made a poll with my ideas plus an "Other" option in case you have suggestions you think of. Thanks!

I voted for Valerie, although I don’t think there’s anything wrong with naming your character the same as in New Leaf! Val from Amity sounds really good, but Valerie from Amity also sounds nice.

This is a great idea for an island theme

Love Jaws. Is it possible to do the Jaws theme as a town tune, I wonder.

That’s a tough call; Valerie is a very pretty name, while Brody sounds cool and recognizable (both thematically and because it’s a more unique name for an AC character).

If you like the tomboyish sound of Brody and can see yourself being that character, I’d choose it over Valerie ;ェ;

I'm apparently not in the majority for this vote, but I voted for Brody. I like how that's more obvious of the theme you're going for.

Either way, please make your town tune the JAWS theme. That would be amazing.

Thank you for all the suggestions & votes so far! I'm torn between Valerie & Brody. While Valerie is leading in the poll only my mom calls me Valerie & that's usually when she's annoyed with me so... yeah - there's that. I was thinking my character would be a bit tomboyish coming from a family who had police in it so I do like how Brody would work with that & the theme. (In JAWS: The Revenge Martin's younger son Sean is also a police officer.) Ugh! Why didn't I decide this sooner?!

P.S. I was thinking of making the JAWS theme my town tune but there's another song from the film called Promenade - Tourists On The Menu that I was considering as well. lol!

Valerie is obviously leading based on the community’s overall preference for cutesy and sweet. Nothing wrong with that at all, but I wouldn’t let it sway me too much if I liked Brody.

Yikes! Valerie is definitely in the lead. FYI though - if you're picking Valerie for the cutesy & sweet factor (as @Fey mentions above) I feel I should warn you that I'm neither cutesy nor sweet. I'm more macabre & maladjusted.

Even though Valerie is winning I'm still torn between Valerie & Brody. I think I'm just having a hard time getting past the fact that my mom is the only one who ever calls me "Valerie". lol!

Thank you to everyone who voted & offered suggestions! Even though Valerie was the more popular choice I've decided to go with Brody. I just couldn't get my mom's voice out of my head when I tried saying "Valerie from Amity" out loud. Thanks again!
