How long did it take you to settle on an island?

Currently stuck in a loop of resetting for apples and two good villagers c’: its taking awhile so I just wanted to chat with others and ask how long it took them to be happy with everything?
 
i had to reset like 6 times lmao i wanted to get Dom the new sheep villager but i got scoot and was happy with him along with flo, i been playing since 12 am and so far i have 6 villagers, got my house, the museum, nook cranny, unlocked isabelle and harvey, and now im towards unlocking the able sisters shop i definitely need to sleep after this
 
I went ahead and settled on the first island out of the four presented that caught my eye. I didn’t really know what I wanted, but so far it seems decent. I ended up with pears which bummed me out at first but they’re really nice to look at, actually, so I don’t mind too much. As I get more used to the game and develop my play style and tastes, I’ll probably decide if it was a good idea picking the island that I chose. I hope so, because I really don’t want to regret anything this time around! I’d love to do things differently than I did with NL.
 
I gave in and played with a "decent" island last night for a few hours.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to reset and think it will be a while.
I want apples and a blue airport. :rolleyes:

LOL this actually happened to me, 15-20 minutes and maybe 5-6 resets ended up w/ Peaches and Blue Airport. Sadly got hit w/ Cherry and Iggly haha Cherry's pretty grea, but Iggly kinda freaks me out lol B)

Oh and rip to my map fyi not gonna point it out but there's a genuine map (that I think I got) w/ a questionably shaped river up top LOL oh man, overall i'll probably terraform it later hahaha.

I think I spent almost 4 hours resetting for apples with yellow airport. In those 4 hours of nonstop resetting I only saw apples two different times.
 
I reset like 6 times, I couldn't handle that dialogue. However, I haven't got peaches & blue/orange airport but I am happy with cherries/orange because that was my second choice because I've never had them. Good luck on your resets & I hope you get them soon!
 
I think I reset 4 times before I settled. The dodo color mattered the most since it can't be changed. Got apples and Cherry and Antonio that time too, which was a bonus.
 
I picked one design that looked cool, then I got the airport color I wanted and the fruit I wanted! I'm ok with any villager, so I kept the first island I chose :)
 
I didn't reset at all.

Could it have been better? Sure. But I don't want to get frustrated with the game by getting caught up with perfection.
 
I didn’t reset. I just picked the one that looked coolest and rolled with it. I knew if I reset once I would reset 100 times.

Yellow Airport / Peaches / Louie and Katt
 
i spent about an hour resetting, although much of that time i spent getting used to the switch and the controls!

i got pretty lucky with a lot of my islands, settled on an island with apples which i wanted and a red airport which i wanted, and some nice villagers! (pashmina and peck)

it would have been too frustrating for me to spend much longer resetting because i just wanted to get the game started and felt like my luck was going to run out - and i would be stuck resetting multiple pear islands haha :D

I had the same issue with villagers lol, hamlet is ok but I really dont like gorilla villagers and I ended up with rocket :c

I got my peaches/yellow airport and my town hall/airline line up nicely so I'm happy lol! Theyll move... eventually....

&& that's hilarious omg, my sister showed me a map like that and I was dying
 
I was resetting, but I wasn't even sure what I was really looking for.

Where did you guys prefer your Nook camp / resident services area (idk what it's called lol) to be located, and why?

Other than that, I have a good idea of where I want the river outlets to be, and idgaf what color my airport is LOL
 
I settled for one of the four maps that were first shown to me. I ended up with pears, which I didn’t really want again but I feel like it’s meant to be. I love my map, my villagers... not so much. I got Katt and Iggly. My airport is yellow, which I’m pretty happy about.
 
First time was the charm. Got the layout I wanted, the fruit I wanted and I liked my starter villagers. I totally would have reset otherwise.
