So, I'm sorry for asking this since I'm sure it has been answered a million times already, but I'm not a native English speaker and I probably am using the search (and google) with the wrong terms because nothing turns up.

I know that we can only have one island per Switch. But I read and saw on Youtube a lot of people saying "I am right now playing on the Australian version of the game", so I have been wondering if they're doing it because if you own two copies of the game from different countries, you can have two islands since the Switch registers them as different games? Because else it doesn't make much sense to me to buy an Australian copy, I guess.

Then again, I bought a Switch Lite on Black Friday last year and haven't used it yet because I only wanted it for AC, so I don't even know what I'm talking about. I'm from Germany and ordered a copy from German Amazon, so I wonder if I could have two islands if I would also import a US version or something.

Sorry for being so stupid and thank you for helping!

People are just getting it off the Australian eShop because we are ahead of most people in terms of time zones! Buying 2 different versions is just wasting your money, as it will still be the same island!

Oooh I see, I didn't even think about timezones. Thank you for letting me know! I would have bought a second game otherwise, so sad. Guess I'll have to decide on an island name after all.:p
