I unlocked the amiibo reader functionality at the resident services building today, so I was super excited to get started trying to move in my favorite one, Ruby.

So I got her into the campgrounds: I heard from somewhere that if you have land plots already that random villagers could come in, so I did not prepare any land prior to inviting Ruby. I did her craft request and she said something about how she wants to come visit again. I heard that this process takes a few days, so I wasn't too worried.

But then I started wondering; do I need the land plot to invite someone? And I haven't tried going to a nook miles island yet, but does anyone know if potential villagers appear there even if you don't have land ready? Or can you do the same sort of thing that was possible at first and invite them, then build the plot later?

If anyone knows more detailed information about the villager moving process, please let me know! I am also aware of the forced-move-out villagers glitch too.

people were saying not to plot the open plot until the 3rd day of your amiibo invite to prevent random move ins. and form what i've heard, villagers will only appear on the islands if you have plots open

Yes, in order for a villager to appear at an island from a nook miles ticket you have to have a plot open for them if you want them to move in, also to move in an amiibo takes 3 days because its unfortunately a tedious process

Ahh okay. So so far I'm still en route to getting Ruby in, I just need to take care of her for a few more days, then on this 3rd day make sure I have a plot ready for her?
